Absolutely! We encourage school/class teams to participate at our in-person walks, or you can participate virtually right at your school! If you have any questions about how to enroll your school/class please email GetInvolved@KidsHelpPhone.ca

You can register up until Sunday, May 4!

No, there is no registration fee to participate in BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk. There is, however, a suggested fundraising minimum of $100 per person.

Yes! You can register to any team, despite the location you are participating in. For example, if a team is registered to Edmonton and you are participating in Halifax, you can still join that team.

The team page location is a reflection of where the Team Captain is participating.

Anyone can register to any team, regardless of the location they are participating in.

If you are currently on a team and need to switch to a different team, please email our customer service team at GetInvolved@KidsHelpPhone.ca and we would be happy to assist you.

1. Go to WalkSoKidsCanTalk.ca and log into your 2025 Walk account.
2. Once you’re logged in, click on the ‘Team’ button; 3^rd button down on the left hand side.
3. The page should read ‘You are not currently on a team.’ You can then scroll down and type in the team name of the team you wish to join. Once you type it in, the team(s) with that name will populate below.
4. Please verify you have the right team by double-checking the team captain name.
5. Once you’ve confirmed it’s the right team, click the ‘Join Team’ button.
6. The page will then update with the information to reflect that you've joined the team.

Absolutely! We encourage you to register as a Virtual participant. We have virtual locations set up for each province and territory – please set your Walk location to your province or territory and Walk from wherever is most convenient for you on Sunday, May 4^th!
 

Great! We have the virtual teams set up for people just like you.
 

Yes! We have many teams that choose to participate virtually. Just ask your friends, family, colleagues and classmates to join you. If you have any questions about how to set up a virtual team, please email GetInvolved@KidsHelpPhone.ca
 

When you register as a virtual participant, you can choose to Walk wherever is most convenient for you on Walk Day!
For example, Maria lives in Truro, Nova Scotia, and registered for Virtual – Nova Scotia as her Walk Location. Maria lives over an hour away from the in-person Walk site in Nova Scotia. On Sunday, May 4^th, Maria plans to go for a 5km Walk with her dog to celebrate her fundraising efforts!
 

Yes! All participants, whether registered for an in-person or virtual site, who raise $250 or more are eligible for a fundraising reward. If you’re eligible for a reward, Kids Help Phone will send the reward to the email address provided during registration. If you need to change the address, please email us at GetInvolved@KidsHelpPhone.ca.
 

No, there is no cost to register your school, class, or school group​.

Yes! If you are not able to attend an in-person walk site​, you are welcome to register as a virtual team and walk where it makes the most sense ​for your school​.

No, you can choose what day makes the most sense ​for you and your school. ​P​lease do ​host this event within the month of May.

You can register whatever size group makes sense ​for you, whether it’s a single class, school ​club/group or the entire school​.

The deadline to register your school is May 4th, however your walk can take place any time during the month of May.

Of course! You can download, print and share mental health materials here or order materials to help raise awareness of their services here.

It is recommended that you register​ as a team, which will allow students to join your team ​when they register​.

Unfortunately, we​ just don't have the capacity to support this type of request at this time. However, we’d be happy to provide a virtual presentation about Kids Help Phone and youth mental health supports. A member of our team can also assist you in ​registering your school and ​your fundraising​ efforts. Let us know how we can help!

Yes​! We will issue reward cards for any student who raises over $250​ - please see the incentive rewards information under the Fundraise tab. In addition​, the top fundraising school and the school with the most registered participants in each province will receive a pizza party​!  Please note that your school must raise over $1,000 in order to be eligible.

Reward cards will be sent out in October to all registered​ and eligible participants​.

There are many ways to raise funds successfully and have fun in the process. You can share your reason for participating — you’ll be surprised by how many people will support your personal story.

Another idea is to start a team — fundraising as a group can be exciting and motivational. It’s also a great way to achieve a significant fundraising goal.

If you have collected cash/cheques in person, please use the BMO website to locate a branch near you.

Using the instructions in the top right-hand corner of your pledge form, a BMO customer service representative will be able to deposit the cash/cheques into our account. They will then provide you with a deposit slip that you will attach to your pledge form and bring it to your local Walk site or mail your pledge form and deposit slip to the address below:

If you’re eligible for a reward, Kids Help Phone will send the reward to the email address provided during registration. If you need to change the address, please email us at GetInvolved@KidsHelpPhone.ca.

Beginning in 2024, Kids Help Phone will no longer issue team rewards.

By eliminating team rewards, we will be able to issue gift cards in a more timely manner. We will continue to issue rewards for any individual raising $250 or more.

Any funds donated to your individual fundraising page count towards your individual reward. Funds donated to the team’s fundraising page directly do not count towards your individual reward.

People who support a participant online will receive an official tax receipt by email within 24 hours.

For those who support your goal in person (by cash, cheque or credit card, as indicated on your paper pledge form), an official tax receipt will be issued by Kids Help Phone in the Fall according to the information provided on that form. Please make sure all address information is filled out correctly on your form.

Please note: In order for tax receipts to be issued, full names and complete addresses must be provided.

If you make a self-donation you will receive a tax receipt, however this may affect your incentive prize (if applicable).

In accordance with CRA guidelines, the self-donation can not help you get to a new incentive level. If it does, Kids Help Phone has to issue the lower incentive prize based on what is raised without the self-donation included.
 
For example, Joe donated $20 to his Walk page and received a tax receipt. At the end of the event, Joe raised an overall total of $500. Because Joe donated $20 to himself and received a tax receipt, the $20 cannot count towards his incentive. He therefore would be eligible to receive a $25 incentive prize, even though it seems he qualifies for the $50 prize.
