For over 36 years, we’ve been a trusted space for any feeling or issue, big or small, empowering youth to Feel Out Loud. In this category of one, KHP unlocks the hope young people  need to thrive in their world through continuous innovation to deliver personalized supports.

As the demand for Kids Help Phone’s services continues to grow, fundraising for BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk will help ensure that youth in every community across Canada receive the support they need.

How to get started

  1. Register online.
Register on your own or join/start a team by asking friends, family, colleagues or classmates to join you on Sunday, May 4th. You can participate at one of our in-person events or virtually and show young people across Canada that they’re never alone!

  2. Set your fundraising goal (suggested fundraising minimum $100).
Setting a realistic goal will help keep you motivated and give you something concrete to work toward. Raising these funds helps support young people and helps you earn rewards!

  3. Share your reason for participating and build your connection to the cause.
Whether it’s on your online profile page or through personal emails, share your reason for supporting Kids Help Phone. You might be surprised by how your family and friends support your efforts!

  4. Let your friends, family, colleagues or classmates know that you’re a champion in your community!
Make a list of all the people you know and ask them to make a donation if possible. Call, email or post on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

Fundraising Tips

Not sure where to start? Take a look at our fundraising tips below. They include helpful ideas for engaging with family, friends, colleagues and classmates for a great cause – in person or virtually!

  • Self-Donation Inspiration: Consider making the first donation to your own fundraiser page. Leading by example shows your commitment to Kids Help Phone and inspires others to join the cause.

  • Set a Bold – yet attainable – Goal. Fundraising can feel hard but Kids Help Phone makes it easy! Online donations are easy and secure, and you’ll find templated emails for you to use once you log in!

  • Share Your Own Story! You can personalize your fundraising page by sharing with your friends and family why youth mental health matters to you. Your personal connection to this cause is a powerful motivator, and by sharing your story, you'll build a deeper connection with potential supporters, propelling you closer to meeting or exceeding your fundraising goal.

  • Don’t Forget Social! Share your fundraising efforts on social media with a link to the event so people can learn about your participation and make a donation.

And remember, you can earn fundraising rewards!

If you’re part of a team, why not think about fundraising together? We’ve included some ideas below and then record the funds as a team gift!

  • Trivia - Create a trivia competition you can run in person and through video chat. You can charge a fee to participate, with the winner receiving a prize and all funds raised going to your team. Research topics such as sports, entertainment, history and geography, and host a trivia night for your friends, family or colleagues.

  • Online auction - Set up an online auction through websites such as 32auctions.com, where you can raise money by auctioning off goods and services that can be redeemed at any time. All proceeds can go to your team, or each winner can make a donation to the donor’s fundraising page!

  • Bingo - Participate in a game of bingo by downloading bingo cards online and sharing them with your team. You can charge a small fee to purchase the cards and then set up a 15-minute video chat and call out the numbers each day. The winner will get a prize and all funds will go to your team!
