For more than 36 years, Kids Help Phone has been a trusted, free and confidential space where young people across Canada can get help and express how they’re feeling—no matter what they’re going through.

Fundraising for the Walk helps ensures young people, across communities, identities and experiences, can access the support they deserve—any time they need it.  .

HOW TO GET STARTED

  1. Register online.
Register as an individual or join/start a team by asking friends, family, colleagues or classmates to join you on Sunday, May 3rd.  You can participate at one of our in-person events, virtually or with your school and show young people across Canada that they're never alone!

  2. Set your fundraising goal (suggested fundraising minimum $250).
Setting a realistic fundraising goal will keep you motivated and give you something concrete to work toward. Raising these funds helps support young people and helps you earn rewards.

  3. Share your reason for participating and build your connection to the cause.
Whether it’s on your online profile page or through personal emails and social media, share your reason for supporting the young people in Canada. You might be surprised by how your family and friends support your efforts!

  4. Let your friends, family, colleagues or classmates know that you’re a champion in your community!
Make a list of all the people you know and invite them to support your fundraising, at whatever level feels right for them. Reach out by phone, text, email or social media.

Fundraising Tips

Not sure where to start? Take a look at our fundraising tips below. They include helpful ideas for engaging with family, friends, colleagues and classmates for a great cause – in person or virtually!

Fundraising Pro Tips

  • Start Strong - Consider making the first donation to your own fundraising page to lead by example and set a bold - but achievable - goal.
  • Share Your Why - Let people know why youth mental health matters to you.  A personal story helps create connection and encourage others to support your efforts.
  • Use Social to Your Advantage - Share your fundraising page across your social channels so your network can easily learn more, show support and donate.

Earn rewards along the way

Team Fundraising Ideas

If you’re fundraising with a team, consider working together and recording funds as a team gift. Here are a few easy, flexible ideas:

  • Trivia Night – Host a trivia challenge in person or virtually and invite participants to donate to play.

  • Online Auction – Use platforms like 32auctions.com to auction items or experiences.

  • Bingo Night – Share digital bingo cards and invite participants to donate to join the game.

  • Theme or Dress-Down Day – Encourage small donations in exchange for a casual, themed or spirit day.

  • Executive Challenge – When a fundraising goal is reached, leaders take on a fun or bold challenge to celebrate the milestone.

*Please note that team donations do not count towards fundraising totals
